Holistic Wellness is the key to Long-Term Career Success

For me becoming an FIIB Racer has been an eye-opening experience – of getting exposed to new ways of learning and doing things that I wouldn’t have learnt and applied in my life otherwise. Becoming self-driven and striving to achieve the best I can that my potential, circumstances, and fate will allow me has become my guiding principle in life. It has also strengthened my belief in FIIB’s vision of providing long-term career success to students.” – Chahat Arora, 2019-21, MBA-Finance, FIIB.

Right from the starting i.e. orientation day, FIIB has given me a feeling of home and helped me in the best possible way to shape myself to fit into the skin of a future-leader manager. During my first month, I was a little nervous about my upcoming MBA journey as I’d never been through the rigour of doing so many strict deadline driven assignments and participated in so many extracurricular activities simultaneously. But, thankfully, the mentorship sessions I took with my Faculty Mentor and the support I got from the Program Office made the entire ‘settling down in a new home’ process much easier for me.

But as one month turned into three months, the funnel of deadlines and participations swelled and turned into a pile of deadlines and internship-volunteering opportunities, causing a lot of stress and anxiety in me. While I was looking for ways to cope-up with this pot of pressures-cum-desires of mine, I got to know that students can sign-in for Zumba or Yoga classes. I quickly registered for the Yoga classes and ensured that I did not miss even a single of my mentor-mentee sessions. After two weeks, I kind of realised that I’d decoded the mantra of being able to attend to everything without feeling like a pressure cooker.

Wondering what’s the mantra that I decoded? Well, it was the outcome of attending a Finance guest lecture where we were taught the importance of setting balance before considering leverage of risks in any model. That’s it! I literally listed all the activities and assignments in which I needed to participate in order to have the most out of my freshman year. And step-by-step I started delivering results not just in the classroom but also outside the classroom.

At FIIB, we are taught that a healthy lifestyle is the bedrock of all other successes in life. To become successful leader managers of tomorrow, we must know how to live a life of fulfilment today. And that’s how I figured it all out – holistic wellness is the key to long-term career success – at least it is for me now.

It has also strengthened my belief in FIIB’s vision of providing long-term career success to students.

Here let me share with you the five dimensions of wellness through which FIIB nourish the health and well-being of its students:

For anyone who wants to be a manager it is crucial to emphasize on all aspects of wellness. I timely register myself for all FIIB initiatives that support the idea of maintaining one’s physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual health. And I’ve found that it has improved my ability to focus on my professional growth.

A year of my MBA journey has already passed and it’s been like a rollercoaster ride with numerous ups and downs. However in every thick and thin of this journey, FIIB has been there for me, helping me learn a lot of new things and supporting me in whatever I’ve been able to achieve so far.
