Industrial Quotient Analysis

1. Fools even thou they commit mistake; they try to learn from everyone.
2. When you say you want to increase something you have to work for it.
3. Finally Degrees plays as a ladder but there is a person attached to it.
Were the words said by Abbas Rizvi during the San kalp 2012 a workshop conducted by FIIB as a part of its Management fest. While joining PGDM program, I always wondered why it is important to do a management program. How it will prepare me for the corporate world? All the answers of haunted questions regarding PGDM programme came to me on October 20th in the form of Sank alp 2012 when I attended the industrial quotient analysis taken by Abbas Rizvi , Manager-Resourcing Ericsson India Telecommunication .
“Starting as a Management Graduate “we all are basically either a fresh pass out or with minimum work experience with an inability to operate in teams , no experience in the conflict management & lack in conceptual & thought clarity . During this 2 year of PGDM course our main focus should be on:-
1. “Built plan of action “i.e. expanding horizons & knowledge base.
2. “Business & general awareness “Instead of gathering information of all the industries it is good to adopt a specific industry. And all the things you learn in your PGDM program try to relate it with your chosen industry.
3. “Conceptual management understanding “most of the people try to do their research with the help of internet, try to get that relevant information in primary data.
4. Summer training is the first step of assessment. Develop research papers, it is called building portfolio.
On the basis of these portfolios you will be assessed by the interviewer during placements & it will also be a plus point in the long run. He emphasized on writing research paper with field research to get more practical knowledge of corporate world. . “Bigger the report better, but it also don’t work if it is of poor quality “. Apart from these you should write Blogs especially if it is related to any recent events in business, this will add to your portfolio. You will also be assessed on competencies such as leadership, communication skills, Interpersonal skills, problem solving etc. Identify your strengths & work where you lack. Try to give a complete answer using “STAR RESPONSE “ on every question that the interviewer asks i.e.
In the end the students were divided into three groups and a group discussion was conducted. After the Group discussion, He told us what are the things an HR looks in a candidate during the Group discussion & where should we improve. The session was concluded by giving a token of gratitude on behalf of FIIB family & thanking Sir for sharing his valuable time & knowledge with us.
